Gear material is 4820 rather than competitors 8620. 4820 is a far better material due to its increased chromium and nickel content for increased durability and ductility, both necessary in Indian crash box applications. 4820 will not chip off at the edges (unlike 8620) which keeps the oil cleaner and free of debris therefore you can run roller bearings without fear of contamination. Why the higher cost ? These properties increase the steel cost plus machining time is increased due to the steel being tougher to machine.
